Current/Ongoing Meetings

The Forest Health Task Force meets from 7:30-9 am on the 2nd Thursday of each month at the Community Center in Frisco on 3rd and Granite. Feel free to join us as all of our meetings are free and open to the public.

Our gatherings bring together policymakers, businesspeople, homeowners, activists, tree service professionals and forest service personnel to share information about a forest under attack.

Guest speakers provide unique perspectives about different aspects of the bark beetle challenge. Examples include:

  • A forest landscape assessment from the Northern Colorado Bark Beetle Cooperative;
  • An environmental perspective from the Wilderness Workshop;
  • Reports on pending legislation from representatives of Senator Wayne Allard, Senator Ken Salazar and Congressman Mark Udall;
  • A description of Summit County's Wildfire Protection Plan and the activities of its Wildfire Council;
  • An address on wildfire behavior modeling from the US Forest Service;
  • A presentation on the Dillon Ranger District's plans for fire mitigation work around  Dillon Reservoir.

Our meetings encourage the expression of ideas on such issues as how best to influence our future landscape and how best to establish a sustainable local wood products industry.
