Hey Folks,
The Forest Health Task Force is holding a roundtable conversation this Wednesday on the State of Forest Health in Summit County and neighboring mountain communities and we'd love to see you there to hear your thoughts!
Join us for lunch and conversation from 12 to 1:30 pm, Wednesday,August 29, 2012 at the County Commons' Mt Royal Room at 37 Peak One Boulevard in Frisco.
Speakers include Cary Green, the Timber Management Assistant for the east zone of the White River National Forest; Brad Piehl and Howard Hallman, Forest Health Task Force Directors; Sloan Shoemaker and/or Abbie Cobb will be representing the Colorado Bark Beetle Cooperative; and Carl Spaulding of the Colorado Timber Industry Association.
Mr. Green will report on the status of current and future forest health stewardship projects in Summit and Eagle Counties. Brad Piehl and Howard Hallman will give an update on the forest restoration and monitoring program for the Straight Creek watershed, the primary source of drinking water for the Town of Dillon and Dillon Valley. A Colorado Bark Beetle Cooperative representative will describe what initiatives the organization is pursuing to support the work of forest health collaboratives in Colorado. Mr. Spaulding will comment on prospects for a sustainable forest products industry in Colorado. We have a great line-up of speakers and would love to have you present as well!
This meeting is free and open to the public. Pizza, salad, and beverages will be provided.
The Forest Health Task Force is a citizen and place-based forest collaborative group organized to address ecological, social and economic issues related to the forested lands of Summit County and neighboring mountain communities. The Task Force is a program of The Greenlands Reserve Land Trust of which Howard Hallman is president.
