Hans Rosenwinkel, who is producing a segment for the National Geographic television series Wild Chronicles about Colorado’s pine-beetle infestation, will conduct a viewing of his rough cut at the Thursday meeting of the Forest Health Task Force in Frisco.

Set for the Frisco Recreation Building at the corner of Third Avenue and Granite Street in Frisco, the meeting will run from 7:30-9 a.m.on Thursday, Aug. 7.

Shot entirely in Summit, Grand and Eagle Counties, the 15-minute feature will tell the story of our mountain communities’ response to the almost complete die-off of mature lodgepole pine stands that make up the majority of the region’s forested landscape.

The showing will provide an opportunity for locals to view and critique story content for accuracy.

Appearing in the piece are Bob Cain, Mary Ann Chambers and Clint Kyhl with the U.S. Forest Service, Eric Lovgren, wildfire mitigation specialist for Eagle County, and Howard Hallman and Sandy Briggs from the Forest Health Task Force.

Summit Country tree service professionals are represented by Rick Herewehe with A Cut Above Forestry and Peter Drummond of BioBalance.

Also featured is commentary on the Straight Creek project adjacent to I-70 conducted by the Rocky Mountain Youth Corps, the Williams Fork campground restoration, a contract managed by Colorado Correctional Industries, and the Confluence Energy pellet plant operation in Kremmling.
